Intense pulse light (IPL) treatments, sometimes called photofacials, use light therapy to treat skin concerns from fine lines and wrinkles to skin discoloration and rosacea. An incredibly versatile treatment option, IPL can also be used to remove unwanted hair or to treat varicose veins or broken blood vessels.
In addition to IPL, we offer a range of other cosmetic treatments to meet various aesthetic goals. This can make it difficult to decide which one is right for you. Since IPL is such a diverse treatment, it can be difficult to determine whether it–or another service–is ideal for you. We can help you decide by explaining how it differs from other facial treatments at Amara Medical Aesthetics.
IPL vs. Excel V Laser Treatments
An IPL works by directing wavelengths of light onto the targeted area. This light energy targets damaged or pigmented cells in the skin, causing them to heat up and break down. These unwanted cells are then naturally flushed from the body, which causes the skin to look younger, clearer, and more even.
While both IPL and Excel V Laser treatments are excellent alternatives to surgery, the latter is more targeted. For this reason, IPL may be right for you if you want to treat a broader area of skin. On the other hand, Excel V Laser treatments may be best if you want to treat more targeted areas, such as scars, birthmarks, or small areas of broken capillaries.
IPL vs. PDO Thread Lift
IPL can be an excellent option if you’re also interested in addressing signs of aging. However, consider a PDO thread lift if wrinkles are your main concern.
A PDO thread lift uses NovaThreads, an absorbable thread placed beneath the skin, to lift sagging facial tissues. These invisible threads provide a tightening effect that can last up to two years, all while stimulating collagen production.
IPL vs. Injectables
While IPL can help reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles, its primary goal is treating skin issues like pigmentation. If you’re looking for a treatment specifically made to treat signs of aging, injectables such as BOTOX® Cosmetic, Bellafill®, and Dysport® can provide a more direct approach to preventing or reducing the appearance of wrinkles.
Facial injections are also a great non-surgical option for restoring lost facial volume and shaping facial contours.
