Facelift in Bellevue

Facelift surgery is a huge commitment, especially for someone as busy as you. But there is no need to sacrifice looking as youthful as you feel just because you can’t commit to the lengthy downtime of most plastic surgeries.

Facelift

A Revolutionary Treatment

Designed to achieve amazing aesthetic results, mini Facelift is a revolutionary outpatient treatment that can make you look 10 years younger with a short procedure and minimal recovery time. This technique lifts and tightens loose skin in the lower region of the face, providing a more youthful and well-rested appearance.

Who Is It For?

The facelift was developed for men and women wanting to postpone the aesthetic aging process. Around the age of 40, people tend to lose the elasticity in their skin, developing a sagging, droopy look around the jawline and under the chin. While other reduced facelift procedures are restricted to limited-time skin tightening, mini facelift suspends the physical structure of the lower face for a longer-lasting effect with a minimally-invasive procedure.

Over 10 Years Of Experience

If you are considering changing your older look to match your younger spirit, consider the area’s best and most qualified plastic surgeon for the job. Double fellowship trained and double board certified, Dr. Tarbet’s expertise in facial structure and 10 years of practice in facial plastic surgery has made her Seattle’s leading provider of the facelift procedure.

Facelift Results

While facelift results in enduring anti-aging and skin tightening results, it is important to remember that after any facial procedure, the normal aging process continues. Lifestyle choices, bone structure, skin type, sun exposure, and heredity all play a part in how long the results will last.

Post-Surgery Scarring

Dr. Tarbet is a double board-certified plastic surgeon. She uses her extensive experience with this surgery to effectively hide your incisions. She uses the natural chin crease and hides the ear incisions in the hairline as much as possible. These scars will heal well naturally and will be quite inconspicuous in a matter of months. Mini facelift scarring is even less.

Is a Facelift painful?

Recovery after your procedure isn’t a piece of cake. Dr. Tarbet repositions tissue and tightens underlying support structures. She excises loose, sagging skin. These create incisions and significant tissue trauma. This shows itself in fairly extensive swelling and bruising. There will be some discomfort, but it is not sharp, acute pain. The pain medication prescribed by Dr. Tarbet should keep you comfortable. After the first two or three days, your pain will begin to quickly decrease.

What is recovery like after a facelift?

There is a good deal of tissue trauma involved with these procedures because so much tissue is lifted and repositioned. That will create tissue trauma, and that means bruising and swelling. After your surgery, Dr. Tarbet will have wrapped your face in bandages and will have installed drainage tubes to help remove unwanted fluid accumulation.

Facelift

For the first week, you’ll have to sleep with your head elevated. Obviously, you can’t sleep on your side, as pressure on your cheeks needs to absolutely be avoided. The first few days of your recovery will be the most difficult, but then you’ll improve relatively quickly. As you recover, you’ll notice numbness in some areas. This is normal and is a result of your facial nerves adjusting to the re-draped skin. You’ll notice that your incisions itch at times in your recovery, but this is also normal and will pass with time. Facelift patients can become frustrated by residual swelling that comes on even weeks after their surgery, usually at night. This also is normal, and it will eventually resolve.

Most patients can return to work by the third week after surgery.

What are the Benefits of a Facelift Procedure?

  • Tightening of the jowl
  • Defining the jawline
  • Cheekbone lift
  • Smoother neckline
  • Natural-Looking results
  • Minimal downtime
  • Immediate and long-lasting improvement

What are the risks involved in having a Facelift?

Dr. Tarbet is a double board-certified plastic and ophthalmologic surgeon. Her training, expertise, and extensive experience with facial surgery helps ensure any risks are kept to a minimum. But this is surgery, so risks are inherent to any surgical procedure: reaction to anesthesia, excessive bleeding, poor wound healing, and the like. These risks are low.

Specific to facelift procedures, these are the risks:

  • Injury to the nerves that control facial muscles (usually temporary)
  • Numbness or tingling around the incision areas (temporary)
  • Hair loss at the incision sites
  • Skin discoloration (rare but can continue for several months)
  • Skin healing issues (more common with smokers)

How long will the results of my facelift last?

The changes made in your facelift last forever. Any tissue removed and support musculature that is raised…these are permanent changes. Unfortunately, there’s no stopping the march of time, and your skin will continue to age. That’s especially true if you make the most of the ample outdoor fun we have here in the Pacific Northwest.

There are not absolutes with a surgical procedure like a facelift, but generally, a full facelift can provide a rejuvenated appearance for up to 20 years. A mini facelift provides about a decade of rejuvenation. But don’t think your face will suddenly revert to the aging you had that made you come see Dr. Tarbet in the first place. It will always be at a younger place, but aging will continue.
